TikTok has been involved in two large highlights. One is its ban from India and the second is for collecting children's data.

The app according to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has been illegally collecting data from 13 year olds and under. Even though the operators knew about the data being collected, the app did not seek parental consent as part of their policy to gather data such as phone numbrs, email adresses, names, etc.
Now TikTok has created a new app experience which changes the privacy policy for individuals based on their age. The new system is supposed to follow FTC guidelines for mixed audience apps. However, the fine was to be paid regardless.
