Putin is attempting to gain military support from China to strengthen its invasion in Ukraine.

As the economic pressure on Russia increases and the global communities showcase vital signs of retaliation, Russia turns towards an ideologically aligned partner - China. The Russian Government has urged the Chinese Regime to provide military support as "back-up" and "reinforcement" for their operation in Ukraine.
The United States National Security advisor, Jake Sullivan, would be in Rome to meet with Yang Jiechi - China's top diplomat - to understand the possible actions that could be taken for sustenance/resolution.
Russia has called the Russia-Ukraine Invasion a "special project" when appealing to China. Nonetheless, China has conserved its hospitality towards a possible military alliance. This is an outcome of increasing Western pressure and Human Rights issues - that have, in the past, strangulated China.
Beijing has not showcased any outright resentment towards the invasion - however - they have urged negotiations. The kind of weaponry which has been demanded has not yet been revealed - regardless - a military cooperation between the two states would turn the tide of the invasion. Thus, hoping for this cooperation to not succeed is in Ukraine's best interest.
We also cannot forget the economic retaliations China placed upon Russia once it had infiltrated Ukrainian borders. China denied Russia financial support and was also contemplating withdrawing existing loan repayment plans.
Henceforth, Russia is not seemingly gaining too much support - nonetheless - a final decision on the military alliance has not yet been made. Therefore, all we can do is wait and hope for the best.
