Tech Mahindra have launched the world's first Upskilling as a service platform.

For context knowledge: Tech Mahindra is the IT and technological communications branch of Mahindra. Upskilling is a process where an employee is being trained and helped in the development process of new skills. The firm will now offer this to accelerate "new-age" skill development. They are attempting to create a workforce that is fit for the future globally. They are aiming to have more than 60,000 employees taking this service and skilling themselves for the changing market.
The Upskilling as a Service (UaaS) is during the pandemic helping Mahindra to teach their employees on the changing world and the way it will change their dealings with customers. These skills are being taught globally and will change and create a large edge for Mahindra in the market.
The whole process will entail classes on understanding 5G, robotic processes, cloud, big data, and various other upcoming technologies. It will also allow the employees to be a one-stop-shop where they can provide prompt responses, will connect employees in over 30 countries, will allow the employees to have a transition into newly formed digital jobs, and at times may also help employees make career decisions and business prospect.

This is a new era in business. A new field itself, Mahindra is rolling out of the gate fast with not minor changes in the top posts, but a change involving 60,000 employees. Now not only does that increase the morale of the firm but also creates a non-price competitive edge for the firm across the world. Mostly services are adapting and rolling with the punches.
They are like most companies learning along the way, but this large step by Mahindra shows that they are not going to compromise or have improvisation take the lead, and they want to sit on the driver's seat. The upskilling does create a lot of improvements for the employees as they will become a new form of service provider, they will have an increased standard of living, and a new perspective to work which may have countless more effects.
However, Mahindra may be investing in the employees so deeply that they might not be able to keep track of their investments and may risk larger firms acquiring their newly trained employees without having to pay for their training. Thus, the move has great importance and value and large positive benefits, however, there are certain downturns and possible leakages which are to be prevented.
