The Biden administration are passing bills to lift asylum limitation on southern United States borders.

During the height of the pandemic the Trump administration had placed a limitation on the number of people which can receive asylum in the United States. This decision was approved in May 2020 - however - it received backlash from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). The CDC believed that Trump's decision was him method of exploiting the pandemic to reduce migration.
Nonetheless, the Biden administration is now changing this policy and lifting all restrictions.
This verdict is coming after Biden's decision of accepting Ukrainian refugees within US borders. Furthermore, the CDC - alongside multiple NGOs - believe that continuing the previously placed restrictions is not logical. As the mask mandates are being lifted, and the Omicron variant is being controlled, the idea of denying asylum is unethical.
The previously established limitations will be removed starting May 23. The month and half will provide the CDC to establish robust COVID control methods at the borders. Currently about 7,000 migrants arrive at the borders seeking asylum - post this announcement the numbers would likely rise.
Henceforth, there is going to be an influx of migrants in the United States. Lifting of these restriction somewhat hails the banner of returning to "pre-COVID" times.
Time will tell whether or not this decision brings out more problems for the States.
