Here is a quick summary of the various headlines, and their significance in the long run.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been getting more and more intense. The invasion has injured about 1,900 people, destroyed 1,700+ buildings, damaged $120 Billion worth of property and displaced almost 10 million civilians.

The international community has attempted to isolate Russia financially - however - there was one major issue. The European Union relied heavily on Russia for their oil supply; this had limited the harshness of the sanctions the European Union was able to pass (click here to learn more). However, the European Union is attempting to finalise a deal with the United States to decrease their reliance on Russia. Biden has agreed to provide about 15 billion cubic meters of liquified natural gas exports to the European Union. This would allow harsher retaliations against Russia - and probably change the tide of the invasion.

Moreover, the United States and other member countries have deemed Russia for committing war crimes in Ukraine. The United Nations had listed down 10 actions such as, enslavement, rape, deportation, forced abortions, murder, extermination, and racial prosecution as war crimes. Having bombed many civilian sights, such as theatres, hospitals, and apartments, Russia is now being condemned for performing war crimes.

As this idea of Russia performing war crimes solidifies - the United States is urging all nations to reconsider Russia's G20 status. The G20 is a committee consisting of the world's strongest countries. The G20 summit, similar to the G7 summit, addresses multiple global topics and comes to decisions regarding them. If stripped away from the G20 summit - Russia would lose a lot of political influence over global decision making. Henceforth, there are multiple long run issues that Russia is moving towards.

Moreover, the international communities sympathise with Ukraine as most countries have opened their borders to migrants. This showcases the Russia vs the World idea, and pushes everyone for unanimous resolutions.

There is no telling on whether the invasion has just begun or is already near to its end; however, in comparison to the beginning of the crisis, we can know that more strategic retaliations are being placed. Therefore, there is hope for Ukraine; nonetheless, only time will tell the result.
