Recent news is highlighting that BJP government is illegally spying on selected individuals. What is it about?

ree

Recently in posts published by The Guardian, The Washington Post, and The Wire, specific allegations have arisen against the BJP Centre Government.

Now whatever I write is an interpretation of the facts I have read. I am just providing my perspective amidst the information I have found.

The three leading global news platforms have imposed allegations against the BJP government for using Pegasus (an Israel based spyware) on journalists and opposition leaders. The allegations come after Rahul Gandhi, ex-BJP ministers, and multiple journalists' phone numbers were found within many phone numbers in a leaked database.

The BJP government has categorically denied all of these allegations. Moreover, NSO (Niv, Shalev and Omri), the company who created the Pegasus surveillance technology, was quoted by Ashwini Vaishnav (Union Minister of Electronics) as following:

"NSO has also said that the list of countries shown using Pegasus is incorrect and many countries mentioned are not even our clients. It also said that most clients are western countries."

Now, this quote does not say that the NSO has denied India's use of Pegasus. The quote simply brings out some flaws in the list of client-nations. However, this was enough to twist the words and make it seem like the NSO has denied BJP's use of the Pegasus device.

Anyhow, there are many more facts to be uncovered on this topic. Some things, however, can not go unnoticed. Coincidently, the posts made by the international news platforms were timed around the very beginning of the Indian Parliament's Monsoon Session. A much-awaited session which was focusing on passing numerous bills and bringing out many reforms.

These allegations about using the Pegasus surveillance methods by BJP are made on data found 2-4 years ago. This sudden spotlight towards this matter seems like a simple method to fuel the opposition enough to disrupt parliamentary proceedings.

Anyways, the facts are with you; all I am trying is to draw some connections. I will keep you updated... as of now, there is just a lot of chatter and no hard evidence on whether or not the BJP government is spying on a selected group of people.
