Cocaine worth $400m bust in Southampton

An extremely large proportion of cocaine has been uncovered in the United Kingdom

Southampton, located on the southern ports of England, is home to some of the largest shipments from the world over - making it a large trading hub. Now, it is also home to one of the largest cocaine bust in United Kingdom history.

The United Kingdom's Border Force recently reported the uncovering of 3.7 tonnes of cocaine in one of their trade ports. A large shipment from Columbia, reportedly shipping bananas was inspected, and about $400m of cocaine was uncovered.

This is a regular occurrence in the United Kingdom - with similar cocaine busts persisting since 2014. The United Kingdom has seized cocaine worth more than a couple billion dollars now - and unfortunately the number continues to rise.

Nonetheless, this bust is a message to the smugglers, showcasing the promptness and strength of the United Kingdom against drugs.
