India begins manufacturing for iPhone 11 for the first time in India. They will be assembled in the Chennai Foxconn plant.

Apple has shifted its manufacturing sites from China and is testing various manufacturing locations globally. As the political tension increases due to COVID-19 and sovereign violations. Apple products were available in India only through wholesalers/retailers, however, the change in the manufacturing location has allowed the possibilities of having official stores.
As the firm avoids a 20% tax through its local manufacturing decision, it will also be able to benefit from the reduced costs offered by the lower wages. This is another method to further increasing their market share in the ever growing Indian market.
